Although many car dealerships try to convince you to replace your oil every 3,000 miles, many contemporary cars may go up to 10,000 miles between oil changes. It’s only one method a store might generate quick cash.

You may just replace the old oil on your own and end up saving some money if you have a little more time and don’t mind getting a bit filthy (or finding a location to dispose of the old oil).
