The Trabant, a strange-looking vehicle that was most popular in East Germany between the 1950s and the 1990s, symbolized the fall of the East German Bloc.

The car’s low cost of manufacture allowed it to be mass-produced and serve a wide range of consumers. Drivers had to fill up the car’s petrol tank from underneath because the inside was without a fuel door and tachometer.
